What is Great Dane Giving Day?
Great Dane Giving Day is UAlbany’s 24-hour giving challenge. It’s a celebration of Great Dane pride and the power of collective support. For one day, alumni, faculty, staff, students, parents, and friends come together to make a difference for UAlbany and its students.
When does Great Dane Giving Day take place?
The event runs from October 20–21, for 24 hours of giving and celebration. From London to Hawaii everyone gets 24 hours to make an impact and have their gift matched dollar for dollar.
Why did the name change from the 1844 Giving Challenge?
We’ve reimagined our annual fall giving challenge to better reflect who we are as a community. Great Dane Giving Day celebrates our school pride and what we can achieve together as Great Danes.
How does the $250,000 match work?
Every gift made during Great Dane Giving Day will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $250,000, with a gift to student scholarships. That means your impact on UAlbany students will be doubled.
Where does my gift go?
You can give to any area of UAlbany that matters most to you — your school, program, athletics team, student organization, or scholarship fund. Every gift counts!
Can I make more than one gift?
Yes! Every gift you make helps your favorite areas reach their goals and will be matched dollar for dollar with a gift to student scholarships up to $250,000.

Everyone! Alumni, faculty, staff, students, parents, and friends of UAlbany, anyone who wants to make an everlasting impact on UAlbany.
